She is Begum Rokeya, a remarkable woman whose efforts considerably changed the state of female education in Bengal.

তিনি হলেন বেগম রোকেয়া, একজন স্মরণীয় মহিলা, যার প্রচেষ্টা বাংলার নারী শিক্ষার অবস্থায় যথেষ্ট পরিবর্তন এনেছিল।

Her full name was Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain. 

তাঁর পুরো নাম হল বেগম রোকেয়া সাখাওয়াত হোসেন। 

She was kind and generous to the disadvantaged women of Bengal, and extended her helping hand to the poor and the helpless. 

তিনি বাংলার বঞ্চিত মহিলাদের প্রতি সদয় ও উদার ছিলেন এবং দরিদ্র ও অসহায় মানুষের প্রতি সাহায্যের হাত বাড়িয়ে দিয়ে ছিলেন। 

She was the pioneer in setting up a school for the poor Muslim girls of Bengal. 

তিনি বাংলার দরিদ্র মুসলিম মেয়েদের জন্য বিদ্যালয় স্থাপনে অগ্রণী ভুমিকা পালন করেছিলেন। 

She strongly believed in the need of modern education for woman. 

তিনি নারীরদের আধুনিক শিক্ষার প্রয়োজনীয়তার উপর দৃঢ় বিশ্বাসী ছিলেন। 

Begum Rokeya was born in an affluent Muslim family. 

সমৃদ্ধ মুসলিম পরিবারে বেগম রোকেয়া জন্মগ্রহন কারেন। 

Though she never went to school, Rokeya educated herself through her own interest and efforts. 

যদিও তিনি কখনও স্কুলে যান নি, রোকেয়া তাঁর নিজের আগ্রহ এবং প্রচেষ্টার মাধ্যমে নিজেকে শিক্ষিত করেছিলেন। 

She learnt Arabic and Persian at home and also received lessons in Bengali and English. 

তিনি বাড়িতে আরবি ও ফারসি ভাষা শিখেছিলেন এবং বাংলা ও ইংরেজি ভাষাও শিখেছিলেন। 

Some great books written by her, both in Bengali and English, will be remembered forever. 

তাঁর রচিত কিছু দুর্দান্ত বই, বাংলা এবং ইংরেজি উভয় ক্ষেত্রেই, চিরকাল স্মরণীয় থাকবে।

Begum Rokeya wrote extensively on the need for social reforms.

বেগম রোকেয়া সামাজিক সংস্কারের প্রয়োজনীয়তা নিয়ে অনেক কিছু লিখেছিলেন। 

Some of her famous books include Sultana’s Dream, Motichur and Padmarag. 

তাঁর বিখ্যাত কয়েকটি বইয়ের মধ্যে রয়েছে সুলতানার স্বপ্ন, মতিচুর ও পদ্মরাগ। 

She wrote against social injustice and the restrictions suffered by women. 

তিনি সামাজিক অবিচার এবং মহিলাদের জন্য  বিধিনিষেধের বিরুদ্ধে লিখেছিলেন।

Rokeya had immense faith in women’s power and proclaimed that without the help of women a family can never stand. 

রোকেয়ার নারীদের ক্ষমতার প্রতি অগাধ বিশ্বাস ছিল এবং তিনি ঘোষণা করেছিলেন যে মহিলাদের সহায়তা ছাড়া কোনও পরিবার কখনই দাঁড়াতে পারে না। 

She questioned the gendered division of labour and felt that there should be no gender inequality. 

তিনি লিঙ্গ বৈষম্য ভিত্তিক শ্রমবিভাজন এর উপর প্রশ্ন তুলেছিলেন এবং অনুভব করেছিলেন যে কোনও লিঙ্গ বৈষম্য হওয়া উচিত নয়। 

Begum Rokeya was a strong humanist. 

বেগম রোকেয়া ছিলেন একজন কঠোর মানবতাবাদী। 

She gave lessons to women on various subjects. 

তিনি মহিলাদের বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে শিক্ষা দিয়েছিলেন। 

She was the founder of Anjuman-e-Khawateen-e-Islam (a Muslim Women’s Association). 

তিনি আঞ্জুমান-ই-খাওয়াতীন-ই-ইসলাম (একটি মুসলিম মহিলা সমিতি) এর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ছিলেন। 

Rokeya had a deep belief in the inherent unity of our nation. 

রোকেয়ার আমাদের জাতির অন্তর্নিহিত ঐক্যের প্রতি গভীর বিশ্বাস ছিল।

Answer:

Henry Louis Vivian Derozio was a renowned poet and teacher of the early 19th century.

He was born on 18th April 1809 in Entally, Kolkata.

His father’s name was Francis Derozio, and his mother’s name was Sophie Johnson.

He studied at David Drummond’s famous “Dhurramtallah Academy.”

Derozio became a teacher of English Literature and History at Hindu College in Kolkata.

He inspired his students with his radical ideas and love for the motherland.

He served as the Assistant Editor of The India Gazette and also edited The Calcutta Gazette, The East Indian, and The Bengal Annual.

Some of his famous literary works include To India, My Native Land, The Harp of India, and The Fakir of Jungheera.

Derozio played a key role in the Bengal Renaissance and encouraged free thinking among the youth.

He died at a very young age on 26th December 1831.
